Nottingham Forest aren’t having a season to remember as they continue to flounder around the safe positions of the Championship without posing too much of a threat to the play-offs spot but they’ve secured a landmark today.Clashing with Sheffield Wednesday at the City Ground, in a game that ended in a 2-1 defeat to the promotion hopefuls, Nottingham Forest grabbed a landmark goal through Ben Osborn’s equaliser as it marked the 1,000th goal in the Championship this season.
Forest have netted 46 of the 1,000 goals in the Championship this season, putting themÂjust 14 goals shy of Newcastle United- who boast the highest numbers of goals scored in the second-tier of English football this season with 60.
Unfortunately for Forest, 58 goals conceded has shown the source of their problems this season as only rock-bottom Rotherham United have conceded more goals that Gary Brazil’s side this season.
Still, the fans at the City Ground can say ‘I was there’ when the 1,000th goal of the season is discussed but, to be fair, it’s a record that will probably be forgotten.
