Former Manchester United and Everton defender Phil Neville has taunted Arsenal fans on Twitter by referring a Red Devils victory in 2004 that brought an end to a record of 49-matches unbeaten in the Premier League.
Arsenal fans, who have endured a difficult month, have been reminiscing of better times this week and a video has done the rounds on social media that complains of questionable decisions in Manchester United’s favour during the defeat that ended the Gunners incredible run.
Dubbed as ‘the biggest robbery in football history’, Neville responded by quoting the tweet and dubbing the referee as ‘brilliant’.
Neville played out of position in midfield that day and was fortunate to stay on the field of play after a number of fouls, most notably on the Gunners’ Spanish winger Jose Antonio Reyes.
In the end though, history was ended before Arsenal could reach a half-century of unbeaten Premier League matches and the Gunners haven’t been the same side in the Premier League since.
