Sky Germany reported on Tuesday that Borussia Dortmund have now joined the race for Japanese international Doan. His stellar performances with SC Freiburg caught the attention of Eintracht Frankfurt, but now Borussia Dortmund have thrown their hat into the mix. However, a move can only materialise if Dortmund qualify for the Champions League next season.

With only one round left in the Bundesliga, SC Freiburg are on course for a historic qualification to the Champions League thanks to their fourth place in the Bundesliga table. One of the major contributors to Freiburg's push has been Doan, who is the club's top scorer this season with nine goals. Freiburg, who signed the winger from PSV Eindhoven in 2022, paid €8.5 million for his services.
