As reported by The Daily Mail, former Celtic star Kris Commons is weighing up whether he should retire or not after his contract ran out at the club at the end of the season just past.
What’s the story?
It’s been an emotional farewell to the Hoops for Commons over the last couple of weeks, taking his place with the squad for the Scottish Premiership trophy presentation and then playing his last game at Celtic Park in a recent sold-out charity match on Sunday.
Now he’s weighing up the balance of fitness and ability at 33-years-old and has admitted he is considering hanging up his boots completely.
As quoted by The Daily Mail, Commons said:
I’m going on holiday on Tuesday and then I will come back and reflect on what will be going forward. I have options and not just football. Plenty of doors are open but whatever door I walk through – playing, coaching, media – I want to be 100 per cent committed.
He’s a been a fantastic addition to Scottish football over the last few years and that impact means that the likes of Neil Lennon’s Hibernian are still interested in his services, according to The Daily Mail.
However, with back injuries plaguing his last campaign at the Hoops, can he find the fitness to have one last tilt at the Scottish Premiership?
Scoring 91 goals for Celtic over the years, he’ll always be remembered fondly at the Hoops and perhaps leaving those memories intact and moving onto new projects is the way forward for him.
