Alfredo Morelos’ future has been a huge talking point this summer, but Rangers supporters were quick to rubbish rumours of him making a shock last-minute departure to China.
The Colombian was linked with a move to Hebei China Fortune in the dying embers of the Chinese transfer window on Wednesday, with Sky Sports claiming he turned down a contract offer worth £30m.
The deal would’ve seen the Gers bank a fee in excess of £15m, with the striker joining the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Mascherano at the CSL club, but no official bid was made.
Given the last-minute nature of the deal – the rumour was circulated with just a few hours left of the Chinese window – the Rangers fans were sceptical.
And their cynicism was proven correct as Steven Gerrard clarified the situation, stating he was unaware of any bids for his 30-goal forward ahead of the Progres Niederkorn second leg, as reported by The Daily Record.
