Sunderland fans have been making some hilariously pessimistic predictions after Chris Coleman said Easter weekend will be a “defining weekend” for the club.
Sunderland fans probably didn’t think life could get any worse when they swapped places with arch-rivals Newcastle this season, but things have gone from bad to worse… and even worse again.
The Black Cats are on track for one of the worst home records in football league history, having managed just two home wins all season, and only scoring more than once on three occasions at the Stadium of Light.
That said, they are still in with a decent chance of avoiding the drop if they can gather some momentum in the closing months of the season.

“It’s quite worrying that we can’t seem to get away from where we are,” the Welshman said.
“Nevertheless, with eight games there are still points to be had. There are still opportunities to be had despite them getting smaller.”
Sunderland travel to Derby on Good Friday, before hosting Sheffield Wednesday on Easter Monday.
“With every game that passes the task gets tougher and tougher, but I think this break has been a welcome one.
“We will recharge our batteries and I think next weekend will be a defining weekend for everybody.
With eight games to go, Chris Coleman’s side are five points adrift of safety, certainly not an insurmountable deficit. Fans don’t seem particularly optimistic though, as their reactions to Coleman’s comments suggest.
