This expanded version of Club World Cup has been Infantino's project for a number of years. The promotion of the tournament has had mixed success, however, and the tournament was only saved by a $1 billion deal struck with broadcaster DAZN to showcase the games. The appetite for the tournament still remains rather small, despite the presence of some of the world's biggest clubs and players, and Infantino is seeking to boost the hype before it kicks off next month – even jumping on Ronaldo exit rumours.
