Old Trafford has become infamous for its inability to keep out water during rainy matches. Last season against Arsenal water began cascading down the roof of one of the stands during a thunderstorm. And the shoddy conditions at the Premier League's biggest stadiums again came under the spotlight last month when a fan discovered a dead rodent underneath their seat.

United have just finished consulting fans over the redevelopment of Old Trafford, which received its last major upgrade in 2006. A decision on whether the club will renovate the stadium or build a brand new arena will be made next year. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe favours constructing a 100,000-seater stadium on the site adjacent to Old Trafford which has been dubbed 'The Wembley of the North'. United, who will spend Christmas Day in the bottom half of the table for the first time since 1989, are next in action on December 26 away to Wolves.
