West Ham United completed a remarkable turnaround on Wednesday night as they came from 2-0 down to beat London rials Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at Wembley to secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, but Irons fans weren’t impressed with Cheikhou Kouyate.
The Senegal international has already played in a variety of different positions for the Hammers this season, but he was handed a spot at centre-back in a five-man defence against Spurs.
However, the 27-year-old struggled and was caught out of position for Moussa Sissoko’s opener for the hosts, although he did improve in the second-half when Slaven Bilic’s side completed their incredible comeback.
West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the player and his performance via social media, and while some said he is a “mistake waiting to happen at the moment”, others believe he “needs to be dropped” for the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
